scholes

A good example is Paul Scholes who I personally saw as the best player in United for many years.

He never got as much media attention as he maybe deserved, but as a footballer he was and still is fantastic.

MLS maybe should go for players like Paul as it will help to have several experienced international players per team.

If you come alone it is much harder to make a change fast. If you instead are two or three players then you really can accomplish something together with the rest of the Team.

I might get back to this issue later on….

Been thinking about the Kansas game tonight, and the corner kick that I tried to shoot directly in the goal.

It was so close……I saw the goalie save it exactly on the goal line!

It would have been a really nice goal to have scored as I was 8 or 10 years old the last time it happened.

Anyway, a great job by Tyrone to be there on the rebound and score for the Sounders.

freddie_allstarThe All Star Game 2009 was a game I really enjoyed getting selected for and playing.

Would like to thank everyone who voted for me. I am very grateful to be voted the No 1 one player by the fans in my first MLS season!

Have since the match got a few questions about what happened in reference to my migraine attack and penalty kick and thought it was time to give you some inside information.

With around 5 minutes left of the game I got an unusually severe migraine attack and walked up along the sideline to Coach Kinnear.

Unfortunately I had not previously mentioned to him about my problems with migraine sometimes and Kinnear had of course no way of knowing which resulted in the following hilarious conversation.

- I can’t see anything and can’t play any more!

- Ok, no problem just stay in this area and continue to play (Coach Kinnear)

- but I really can’t see anything at all!

I did as I was told and decided it was too short time to try to explain the situation and decided I could wait out the last 5 minutes of the game and then go to the dressing room to get my medicine.

Unfortunately the game was not allowed to end in a tie as I thought. So penalties was to follow, and the conversation therefore continued;

- Freddie, you take the first penalty (Coach)

- no, I can’t see anything!

- ok, ok, but if it goes to a sixth penalty you take it Freddie (Coach)

- but I can’t see anything!

- ok, ok, just hit it straight on (Coach)

As we were standing just beside the bench I later found out from my Sounders team mates sitting there that they had overheard the whole conversation.

I of course got a lot stick from that later on…!

Again no blame at all should fall on Coach Kinnear who I think is an excellent Coach with a clear goal of always playing entertaining football.

It was of course my responsibility to make the situation clear to him but unfortunately when you get an attack you get very weak, and all of a sudden I found myself just standing there having to take a penalty kick.

Wizards vs Sounders game

Photo: Sounders.com

We could easily have scored 8 goals in this game, as we were one-on-one with the Wizard goalie 5 more times except from the 3 goals we scored.

For Playoffs we need to get much better on the final touch so that we score on all our chances, so I guess some of us need to work extra hard on that at the practices until the next game….

The grass pitch at Community America Ballpark was a really nice one to play on, it was like playing in England again. This pitch and Robertson Stadium in Houston is the best ones we have played this season as the ball roles really fast on the grass.

I’ve been told that Sounders is now the second team in MLS history to reach the postseason in their first year which of course means a lot to me and the whole team!

If you want to get some more facts from the game, have a look at Sounders and MLS .

Off to Kansas for a very important game Saturday for both the Sounders and Wizards.

The Wizards need 6 more points to reach Playoff which means they have to attack from start. This is a positive thing for us.

A win for the Sounders means MLS Playoff is secured!

A bit of interesting information is that the Community America Ballpark where the Wizards play has the smallest pitch in the League. To prepare we have been taking in the sidelines on our practice pitch about 2 meters on each side to be ready for the game Saturday.

svffA personal reflection in reference to that Sweden’s National Team Coach did his last match against Albania Wednesday.

- Together with the Players Lars secured Sweden´s participation in 5 straight International Championships. This speaks for itself.

The next man in the job should have very good knowledge of Swedish football and experience from matches at the highest International level.
