I am hoping that your future includes playing for the Sounders. The game is certainly different without you on the pitch.

I read the article too, and all the comments on this blog. The first thing that got into my head was “This must be some misunderstanding, Freddie would never just stay away without talking to someone in the staff”. Keep going and stay true to your love of football!

Ibland är det svårt att skaka av semester humör, eller hur?

And, what happens if an earthquake hit Seattle, Freddie? Would you look for another place to play, or would you help the city recover from the devastation? Just saying.

När börjar säsongen för er igen ?

Sounds like the coaches were disappointed to learn that you would not be at the first day of camp. In other words, they knew you would not be there and not happy about it. It’s their job to communicate that to other players, fans, media, etc.

At any rate, leave it to the media to make this into a huge story. From my perspective, veterans like you have earned a free pass to be used in times like these.

    Enjoy it. Safe travels.

I read a couple of articles on a Swedish site, one with comments from your agent. A shame the media ignored that one and simply focused on your absence. And my personal opinion is that those who don’t know all the details maybe should not judge and speak until they do.

Take care of you. I hope you return to the Sounders. They play so well with you on the pitch.

    Ha det bra!!

There is obviously some sort of miscommunication going on here and hyped media brought on by players and coaches talking WAY too soon. Here we are 1 day into training camp and the players/coaches are making a big deal out of nothing. Take your time Freddie and hopefully we’ll see you back in Seattle soon once everything gets worked out.

Var är du på? Jag skulle nog ha svårt att lämna Sverige också!

    Hi Freddie,
I’m reading your statememeny here and I don’t read anything that excuses you from missing the first day of camp. You figured out the morning of camp you wouldn’t make it? Unless you have some mitigating circumstance you’re not sharing, I think people involved with The SSFC have a right to be upset. Everyone else made it to camp and they are all dealing with the CBA issue, as well.

IF FREDDIE as you say, that there was poor communication with managers Sounders, You are forgiven .. STRETCHES BUT IF THESE TIMES, AND LOOKING FOR CLUB IN EUROPE.
LIVE AND HAS NOT RETURN Disappointed and humiliated all YOUR FANS HERE IN SEATTLE.

  12. Jon Danforth on January 26, 2010 10:04 am

Talk about an overreaction in Sounder-land. I personally didn’t expect you back until the CBA was resolved.

  13. Eva Hagerman on January 26, 2010 10:22 am

The comments from Keller make me worry that you don’t want to be a Sounder. But I’m hoping this is just a CBA issue. I agree that I wouldnt want a player that doesnt want to be here. But I’m certainly hoping thats not the case here because I LOVE having “The Ljungberg” as a Sounder! It’s to bad everyone has to be so vague and leave the fans worried :(

Do whatever’s best for you! I have to say that I really enjoyed the MLS season last year, mostly because of you and the Sounders! I hope to see you play when I travel from Indiana to Seattle in the summer.

    Freddie,
I am a big sounders fan, and a personal fan to you as well, so please know that many of us here in seattle feel we were very lucky to have you last year, and with all our hope this year again…you are a big part of the spirit of the sounders, and we admire your play! Hope you enjoyed the snow in Sweden, looked great. Remember just cause the media makes a big deal out of nothing doesnt mean we arent all still behind you!

Absolutely fabulous!!! Glad it all worked out. It is all just dealing with the politics of sports.. I mean, how can you come up with a firm statement when there may be offers thrown at you, some player walk out chaos in the MLS, etc.?!

Anyway, the whole deal is that you are a masterful creative play maker (with individual skills to boot!). The guys have had a season working with the ‘take charge’ midfield play of yours (basically the ‘quarterback” as said in USA Football-Kasey quarterbacks the defense) and should be able to anticipate your thoughts and react even better. You could see the guys starting to get the hang of it as the season progressed. this season could be the most beautiful soccer anyone has ever seen, anywhere? Could be.

Fredy, Freddie, Tyrone, Kasey from front to back. That looks like championship material to me!

    Full on!!!

yeah, the politics of sports and media, and the occasional disconnect of information.

I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised if I picked up the newspaper to read that I died or something…

ohh!!! Freddie you’re an idol in Seattle and MLS (and in my heart) …. I do not like either Keller’s comments ….. is bad!
